Discover the art of wet felting and create your own hat.
This day long workshop with award winning designer Jo Barr, introduces the art of wet felting a hat (cloche style or small brim) using fine Australian merino wool. With plenty of guidance and support, participants will have the opportunity to learn, experiment and connect with others.
You’ll learn essential wet felting techniques, hat shaping and sizing, along with simple finishing methods for the brim and crown. As part of the day, you’ll also create a simple felt flower brooch to explore decorative techniques on a smaller scale.
Beyond the skills learned, the workshop offers the benefits of slow, hands-on making — helping to reduce stress, build confidence and support wellbeing through focused, creative work. Participants leave with a unique felt hat, a brooch, and a renewed sense of calm and accomplishment.
Suitable for beginners, through to experienced felters
Inclusions: tuition, materials and equipment
Requirements: - Participants to bring two towels each
Optional: leather, wire and binding available on the day for $20 per person
*Suitable for ages 18 and over
